The Department of Environmental Management is proposing to revise Air
Pollution Control Regulation No. 8 to lower the allowable limits on the
sulfur content of petroleum-based distillate and residual fuel oils and
remove some outdated provisions of the regulation. The proposed
revisions would reduce the sulfur content (by weight) of:

* Distillate oil to 0.05 percent (500 ppm) by no later than 2014
(Phase I);

* Distillate oil to 0.0015 percent (15 ppm) by no later than
2018, depending on supply availability (Phase II);

* Residual oil to 0.5 percent (5000 ppm) by no later than 2018.

A public hearing regarding proposed amendments will be held in Room 230
of the Department of Environmental Management, at 235 Promenade Street,
Providence, Rhode Island on Friday April 11, 2014 at 10:00 AM.
