State launches Electrify RI electric vehicle charging station incentive program

On October 31, 2019, the Rhode Island Office of Energy Resources launched Electrify RI, an electric vehicle (EV) charging station incentive program. The increased availability of charging stations will encourage state residents and businesses to make the switch to electric vehicles in order to reduce transportation-related carbon emissions and other pollutants.

This $1.4m initiative is supported by the state's VW Settlement Funds and provides financial incentives to install EV charging stations at Rhode Island Workplaces, Multi-Unit Dwellings, Non-Profits, and Government-owned properties. Incentives are available for both DC Fast Charge and Level II stations at publicly-accessible and non-public (e.g. a workplace gated parking lot) locations.

  * For more information, please visit the Electrify RI website at: www.energy.ri.gov/electrifyri.php<http://www.energy.ri.gov/electrifyri.php>.
  * Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at DOA.electrifyRI at energy.ri.gov<mailto:DOA.electrifyRI at energy.ri.gov>.

The funds for Electrify RI come from the VW Settlement Environmental Mitigation Trust and are being invested according to the state's Beneficiary Mitigation Plan<http://www.dem.ri.gov/programs/air/documents/2018_08_VW%20Mitigation%20Plan.v2_Re%20-%20Submit%20to%20Wilmington%20Trust%208-29-18.pdf> to achieve significant and sustained reductions in diesel emissions and expedite development and widespread adoption of zero emission vehicles. Other funds from this settlement are support an all-electric bus pilot program at the Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA).
