Consolidated Appropriations Act -- Fisheries Assistance Program (CAAFAP)

In accordance with the Consolidated Appropriations Act, Rhode Island has received funds for fisheries relief in response to COVID-19.  The funds are meant to provide assistance to eligible fishery participants in the specified categories to address direct and indirect COVID-19 impacts. RIDMF is developing an application for all sectors to apply for relief funds. The four sectors are: commercial fishing, aquaculture, seafood processors, and party and charter.

Per the Consolidated Appropriations Act, applications will require applicants to show they had at least a 35% loss in revenue in the sector-specific time periods in 2020 relative to their average from 2015-2019.  The sector-specific time periods are as follows:

Aquaculture: March 1 - May 31, 2020
Commercial Fishing: April 1 - July 31, 2020
Party and Charter: May 1 - December 31, 2020
Seafood Processors: March 1 - May 31, 2020

To help support the application process, RIDMF has created a streamlined data request process for applicants to receive their commercial fishing landings data digitally. Data requests can be submitted starting August 2nd. Requests will be processed on a rolling basis. Please allow for a week or more to receive your requested data.

Please note that RIDMF may not be able to fulfill data requests that do not answer all questions completely and you may be required to resubmit your information. To avoid delays, please answer all questions completely.
