Please be advised that order forms for 2022 lobster trap tags and whelk pot tags will be provided on the Division's website<http://www.dem.ri.gov/programs/marine-fisheries/forms-permits.php> the first week of January 2022. For the 2022 fishing season, please note that you will be sending your order forms directly to the tag vendor (Cambridge Security Seals), which will be reflected on the order form and instructions. Please do not send in order forms to the tag vendor at this time.
Paper copies of order forms are also available at the DEM's Division of Coastal Resources office.
Also, for lobster fishermen, please be advised that the Area 2 effort control plan and trap allocation reduction schedule ended last season, therefore your allocation remains the same as last season, notwithstanding changes resulting from transfers.
As a reminder, the 2022 seasons are as follows, with new tags required in traps/pots in the water by the start of the season:
* Whelk: April 1, 2022 through March 31, 2023
* State Lobster vessels: June 1, 2022 through May 31, 2023
* Federal lobster vessels: May 1, 2022 through April 30, 2023
Please monitor the Division's listserve the week of January 2, 2022 for new order forms. For questions, please contact Peter Duhamel at peter.duhamel at dem.ri.gov<mailto:peter.duhamel at dem.ri.gov> or 423-1927.
