Maintenance Technician</span></b> [asmfc.org]</a> to assist the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management (RIDEM) programs that support scientific data collection for resource management. Specifically, RIDEM Division of Marine Fisheries and Division of Fish
and Wildlife are seeking applicants to help in maintaining and operating marine vessels dedicated toward resource monitoring surveys used for informing fish and wildlife sustainability. The applicant will be expected to perform and/or assist with seasonal
and annual scheduled maintenance, diagnosis, and repairs on a fleet of vessels and associated trailers operated by the two Divisions. Vessels include several large and small survey vessels, ranging from 14 to 50 feet in length. These survey vessels operate
in both fresh and marine water environments, can operate outside of scheduled work hours, and employ varying gear types including otter trawls, clam dredge, fish and lobster pots, seine nets, SCUBA support, electroshocking, and waterfowl assessment. Maintenance
or repairs on associated gear (e.g. electrofishing boat electrical generator and water pump, net mending) may also be required. Propulsion systems for the vessels range from diesel to outboard engines, and the applicant will be expected to have a working knowledge
and or technical understanding of survey vessel systems including hydraulics and electronics. If maintenance and repairs are outside of the scope and ability of the vessel staff, the applicant will be responsible for the scheduling the completion of maintenance
or repairs from an accepted vendor. Applicant will be expected to have the ability to troubleshoot problems as they relate to the above duties.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
