The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management is seeking a Professional Engineer to oversee the State's Water Quality Certification Program and manage a staff of engineers and scientists responsible for issuing Water Quality Certifications and performing technical reviews for land development permits and other activities that may impact Waters of the State. The supervisor will also be responsible for important technical and policy decisions related to the Rhode Island Water Quality Regulations and the Rhode Island Stormwater Design and Installation Standards Manual.

The successful candidate will have a Bachelor of Science in Environmental or Civil Engineering, or related field and a current Professional Engineer license issued or recognized by the State of Rhode Island

Knowledge of RI DEM and EPA water rules and regulations required.

Knowledge of civil and environmental site development practices and stormwater design and operation practices. Strong understanding of hydrologic analysis and design. Surface and subsurface hydrology and modeling preferred.

Strong understanding of IT systems preferred.

Proven experience and capability in working with state and local water/wastewater agencies a plus.
