PUBLIC NOTICE for RIPDES General Permit for Stormwater Discharge Associated with Construction Activity

The 2018 RIPDES General Permit for Stormwater Discharge Associated with Construction Activity (Construction General Permit or "CGP") expires on September 25, 2020. The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management (RIDEM) intends to re-issue the Construction General Permit for a five-year period, extending coverage until September 25, 2025 for stormwater discharges from construction activities disturbing one or more acres. A Public Comment period on the draft 2020 Construction General Permit is in effect from July 27, 2020 to September 11, 2020. No substantive changes were made to the re-issued Construction General Permit, and no action is required for existing permit holders to maintain authorization. The permit has been updated to include several minor updates and clarifications to permit language and to conform with the current version of the EPA’s 2017 Construction General Permit (most recently amended in June 2019) and the updated EPA Effluent Limitation Guidelines (most recently amended in 2014).
