[Owtsinfo] Attention OWTS Professionals – Approved OWTS Alternative/Experimental Technology List Updated: SoilAir & HyAir Added, Nitrex Removed

A revised List of Approved Technologies<http://www.dem.ri.gov/programs/benviron/water/permits/isds/pdfs/ialist.pdf> dated April 9, 2019 has been posted to the RIDEM website. Two new technology certifications and corresponding manuals were recently approved and Nitrex was removed (see details below).

SoilAir (Geomatrix Systems, LLC) is a component installed after a septic tank, or a RIDEM-approved advanced treatment system. It intermittently supplies air which flows through the leachfield and surrounding soil. It may be used for repair of systems that have failed due to excessive organic build up in the leachfield, or for new systems to prevent oxygen deficit from developing in and around the leachfield.

HyAir (Geomatrix Systems, LLC) is a component that uses air pressure to lift or distribute wastewater. It is installed after a septic tank, or a RIDEM-approved treatment system in an excavation prepared for it.

Nitrex (Lombardo Associates, Inc.) was removed from the List of Approved Alternative or Experimental Technologies. RIDEM will no longer accept construction application specifying this technology.
