An Orientation to the Floodplain Management Field in Rhode Island

*Cl-III is not in the list of applicable licenses because on July 15, 2019 Governor Raimondo signed House (H 5365) and Senate (S 398) bills amending Title 5 Businesses and Professions, Chapter 5-56.1 Designers of Individual Sewage Disposal Systems. This action exempts RI-Registered Professional Engineers (PEs) from Continuing Education. Class III Licenses were issued to RI-Registered PEs.
Please join us for a free workshop geared toward entry-level professionals and those in related fields who would like to become more involved with floodplain management. This is a great informational and networking opportunity for those who are looking for an overview of floodplain management practices focusing on resilient buildings. It will feature:

  *   a panel of representatives from the RI Flood Mitigation Association (RIFMA), the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the RI Emergency Management Agency (RIEMA), and the RI Coastal Resources Management Council (CRMC) who will discuss:
     *   floodplain management activities in RI
     *   current and upcoming floodplain management issues
     *   planning for future flood resilience
     *   an overview of the different agencies and organizations involved
     *   the Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) program (what it is and the benefits of becoming a CFM)
  *   an introduction to the changes in ASCE 24-14 (Flood Resistant Design and Construction) with more to come in the next workshop!
