[Owtsinfo] DEM OWTS Repair Application Guidance

[Onsite Wastewater Treatment System]

According to RIDEM/OWTS Regulations section 6.16-A a soil evaluation is not required for a an OWTS Application for a Residential Repair but it is highly recommended to provide an unwitnessed Soil Evaluation by a Class IV Licensed Designer to speed up the process and to allow you to replace/repair the failing system as soon as possible.

For any Residential Repair Applications located in the Towns of Charlestown, Hopkinton, Narragansett, New Shoreham, Richmond, South Kingstown and Westerly a repair test hole will not be scheduled due to a shortage of DEM staff serving these Towns and it is strongly recommended that you start scheduling unwitnessed soil evaluation test holes with a licensed class IV Soil Evaluator as soon as possible to avoid any potential delays.
