[Owtsinfo] RIDEM OWTS Designer License Renewal

Attention RI OWTS Designers,

The Class-II and Class-III renewal period has begun. Some notable changes are:

  1.  Any individual who possesses a Professional Engineering license in either Civil or Environmental Engineering may apply for a Class-III license without taking the exam. You may no longer submit under your PE number; you must apply for a Class-III license before submitting any applications.
  2.  Class-III Designers no longer need to report Continuing Education Units (CEUs) as part of their renewal package. If you also possess a Class-IV license you must submit CEUs for that license.
  3.  If you have held your license in good standing for at least 12 consecutive years you no longer need to report CEUs for that license. If you hold multiple licenses, you must meet the requirement for each individual license. For example, if you've had your Class-II license for 15 years but your Class-IV license for only 5 years you will still need CEUs for your Class-IV license.
  4.  Another notable change from last year is you no longer need to have your CEU classes pre-approved by RIDEM. You may take any course relevant to your work experience, and 100% of the courses may be taken online.

  1.  A Class-III license form to be filled out by PEs who currently do not possess a Class-III license. You do not need to take the exam but need to provide proof that your license is in good standing.
  2.  A Class-II renewal form that can be filled out if you do or do not also possess a Class-IV license. If you believe you fall into the new 12-year rule, there is a new section to certify your information.
  3.  A Class-III renewal form that does not include a CEU portion. It can be used for just your Class-III license or your Class-IV license as well if you possess both. You will need to provide proof that your PE license is still in good standing.
  4.  A CEU self-reporting form that can be filled out if you do not meet the 12-year requirement. You do not need to submit the certificates for each course, however if you don't, we will be randomly auditing renewal forms.

Continuing with last year's paperless renewal process, communication will be sent through email and not the mail. If this is not your current email address or you need to update your information, please let us know so that we can communicate effectively.
