[RIHESPAG] State-Wide Campus Mental Health Promotion Event, Next Meeting of Group

Hi Everyone,

While I'm reminding you of that survey also don't forget to contact me directly (travis.vendetti at health.ri.gov<mailto:travis.vendetti at health.ri.gov>) if you or a colleague of yours would be interested in participating in workgroup over the next few months that will be tasked with coming up with a structure for a state-wide college campus mental health promotion event to be held sometime in Fall 2019. Please know that we would welcome any level of participation in this workgroup, even if it's restricted to general feedback/input on the event via email or phone call.

Subject: State-Wide Campus Mental Health Promotion Event, Next Meeting of Group

Hi Everyone,

As was suggested at our last meeting, Bess Wilbur and I are seeking individuals who would be interested in joining a workgroup to design a State-wide College Campus Mental Health Promotion event to take place in October 2019. During the last meeting of our group this was presented as a possible follow-up event to the Higher Education Mental Health Summit that was held in January and the feedback we gathered indicated:

  *   We should recruit staff from counseling centers, public safety, student affairs, and students themselves participate in planning the event
  *   We should aim for October rather than September as most college "Welcome Weeks" already have packed agendas
  *   We could consider using pre-packaged programs such as "Fresh Check Day" and customizing it to fit RI campuses

So at this point we are seeking to get a group of stakeholders together to begin discussions and undertake planning of the event over the summer. You could volunteer yourself or consider submitting the name/contact information for someone else on your campus that you think would be valuable in this planning effort (e.g public safety staff, student services administrator, student groups, etc.) and I will reach out to see if they are interested in participating.  I would ask that you submit names and contact information of these individuals to me at travis.vendetti at health.ri.gov<mailto:travis.vendetti at health.ri.gov> no later than May 17th so that we can hopefully convene the first meeting of the group before June.

Secondly, I am looking for input on when to hold the next meeting of this group, our last meeting was in April so therefore to keep on a quarterly schedule I would normally look to hold the meeting sometime during June, July, or August.
