<p class="MsoNormal">As was suggested at our last meeting, Bess Wilbur and I are seeking individuals who would be interested in joining a workgroup to design a State-wide College Campus Mental Health Promotion event to take place in October 2019. During the
last meeting of our group this was presented as a possible follow-up event to the Higher Education Mental Health Summit that was held in January and the feedback we gathered indicated:<o:p></o:p></p>
<ul style="margin-top:0in" type="disc">
<li class="MsoListParagraph" style="margin-left:0in;mso-list:l0 level1 lfo1">We should recruit staff from counseling centers, public safety, student affairs, and students themselves participate in planning the event<o:p></o:p></li><li class="MsoListParagraph" style="margin-left:0in;mso-list:l0 level1 lfo1">We should aim for October rather than September as most college “Welcome Weeks” already have packed agendas<o:p></o:p></li><li class="MsoListParagraph" style="margin-left:0in;mso-list:l0 level1 lfo1">We could consider using pre-packaged programs such as “Fresh Check Day” and customizing it to fit RI campuses<o:p></o:p></li></ul>
<p class="MsoListParagraph"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">So at this point we are seeking to get a group of stakeholders together to begin discussions and undertake planning of the event over the summer. You could volunteer yourself or consider submitting the name/contact information for someone
else on your campus that you think would be valuable in this planning effort (e.g public safety staff, student services administrator, student groups, etc.) and I will reach out to see if they are interested in participating. I would ask that you submit names
and contact information of these individuals to me at <a href="mailto:travis.vendetti@health.ri.gov">
travis.vendetti@health.ri.gov</a> no later than May 17<sup>th</sup> so that we can hopefully convene the first meeting of the group before June.

<p class="MsoNormal">Secondly, I am looking for input on when to hold the next meeting of this group, our last meeting was in April so therefore to keep on a quarterly schedule I would normally look to hold the meeting sometime during June, July, or August.
However, I do know that many college employees (including those in counseling centers) may not be available over the summer and therefore I have created an online poll for everyone to indicate when they would like to see the next meeting held, available here:
