BOEM's Environmental Assessment Published - Submit comments by July 6th

The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management also issued a Notice of Availability for the Environmental Assessment of the New York Wind Energy Area<https://www.federalregister.gov/articles/2016/06/06/2016-13170/environmental-assessment-for-commercial-wind-lease-issuance-and-site-assessment-activities-on-the>. This assessment addresses environmental and fishery  consequences of the proposed project, as well as possible alternative plans for the project. You may access the Environmental Assessment here<http://www.boem.gov/NY-Public-EA-June-2016/>.

Public input regarding the Environmental Assessment will be taken into account prior to determining the whether to issue a Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) or to conduct further analysis (an Environmental Impact Statement - required by the National Environmental Policy Act). If you have concerns regarding the information provided in the assessment and think that more analysis is necessary, submit comments to BOEM in the next 30 days. BOEM's comment period closes on July 6th, 2016.

You may formally submit comments to BOEM on the Environmental Assessment at the following link<https://www.regulations.gov/#!docketDetail;D=BOEM-2016-0038>. Comments may also be submitted via delivered mail enclosed in an envelope labeled "Commercial Wind Lease Issuance and Site Assessment Activities on the Atlantic Outer Continental Shelf Offshore New York Environmental Assessment" and addressed to Program Manager, Office of Renewable Energy, Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, 45600 Woodland Road, Sterling, Virginia 20166.

In addition to comments submitted through the regulations.gov website, the public can also provide input on the Environmental Assessment at the following meetings with BOEM officials:

*         Monday June 20, 2016 (New Jersey)
