Modification to possession limits and/or seasons for marine
species regulated under quota

This notice is issued in accordance with the provisions of Section 20-1-12.1 of the Rhode Island General Laws entitled "Modification of possession limits and seasons for marine species managed under quota."

This modification is as follows:


1.    Effective 12:00AM on October 26, 2016, the commercial Tautog fishery will CLOSE for the remainder of 2016.

2.    Effective 12:00AM on November 1, 2016, the possession limit for commercial Black sea bass will be DECREASED to 50 pounds per vessel per day.

Possession limits are subject to modification throughout the year; it is the responsibility of the licensed fisherman to comply with possession limits and all such modifications.  Current commercial possession limits can be found by calling (401) 423-1920, or visiting the Marine Fisheries webpage at http://www.dem.ri.gov/programs/bnatres/fishwild/mfsizes.htm.
