NOTICE

Modification to possession limits and/or seasons for marine
species regulated under quota

This notice is issued in accordance with the provisions of Section 20-1-12.1 of the Rhode Island General Laws entitled "Modification of possession limits and seasons for marine species managed under quotas."

This modification is as follows:

1.    Beginning 12:00AM on Thursday, September 29, 2016, the commercial Striped bass general category fishery will RE-OPEN due to lower than expected harvest over the final few days of the open period last week.  The Division will review catch rates the following Monday to determine length of opening.

Possession limits are subject to modification throughout the year; it is the responsibility of the licensed fisherman to comply with possession limits and all such modifications.  Current commercial possession limits can be found by calling (401) 423-1920, or visiting the Marine Fisheries webpage at http://www.dem.ri.gov/programs/bnatres/fishwild/mfsizes.htm.
