REMINDER: 2017 RI COMMERCIAL TAG REPORTS AND UNUSED STRIPED BASS TAGS

All RI dealers who received commercial striped bass tags in 2017, general category and/or fish trap, must return all unused tags and all tag reports to DEM no later than January 1st, 2018. Failure to return all unused tags and tag reports will result in the dealer becoming ineligible to receive tags in 2018 pursuant to provisions of the Rhode Island Marine Fisheries Regulations -

3.10.2 (E) Commercial Striped Bass Tags: Each individual Striped bass shall be immediately marked with tags available from DEM. No Striped bass may be sold unless it has been properly identified with such tag. DEM may designate tagging agents as appropriate. All designated tagging agents shall keep and maintain the required forms and reports specified by DEM. All tag reports and unused tags must be returned to DEM by January 1st of the following year. Failure to return reports and unused tags may result in the tagging agent becoming ineligible to receive striped bass tags in the future.

The 2017 RI commercial striped bass tags may be returned in person or by mail to one of the following Department of Environmental Management Offices:

Marine Fisheries Office
3 Fort Wetherill Road
Jamestown, RI 02835

Division of Coastal Resources
301 Great Island Road
Narragansett, RI 02882

Tagging reports may be submitted directly at Marine Fisheries or Coastal Resources, or via email, mail, or fax (f: 401-423-1925).
