Modification to possession limits and/or seasons for marine
species regulated under quota

This notice is issued in accordance with the provisions of Section 20-1-12.1 of the Rhode Island General Laws entitled "Modification of possession limits and seasons for marine species managed under quota."

This modification is as follows:


  1.  Effective 12:00AM on February 2, 2017, the possession limit for the commercial skate bait fishery will decrease to 1,135 pounds/vessel/day of whole weight through April 30, 2017 (remainder of the sub-period 3).  On May 1, 2017, the possession limit will increase to 25,000 pounds/vessel/day.

Possession limits are subject to modification throughout the year; it is the responsibility of the licensed fisherman to comply with possession limits and all such modifications.  Current commercial possession limits can be found by calling (401) 423-1920, or visiting the Marine Fisheries webpage at http://www.dem.ri.gov/programs/fish-wildlife/marine-fisheries/mfsizes.php.
