Modification to possession limits and/or seasons for marine species regulated under quota

This notice is issued in accordance with the provisions of Section 20-1-12.1 of the Rhode Island General Laws entitled "Modification of possession limits and seasons for marine species managed under quotas."

This modification is as follows:


  1.  Effective 12:00AM on Sunday, July 30, 2017, the commercial possession limit for Bluefish will be 15,000 pounds per vessel per week.

2.    Effective 12:00AM on Sunday, July 30, 2017, the Summer Flounder Aggregate Landing program will CLOSE; the possession limit will be 50 pounds/vessel/calendar day (closed Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays weekly) until the next sub-period begins on September 16, 2017 at 100 pounds/vessel/calendar day.

Possession limits are subject to modification throughout the year; it is the responsibility of the licensed fisherman to comply with possession limits and all such modifications.  Current commercial possession limits can be found by calling (401) 423-1920, or visiting the Marine Fisheries webpage at http://www.dem.ri.gov/programs/fish-wildlife/marine-fisheries/mfsizes.php.
