Hello,

Pursuant to RIMFR Part 6 - General Equipment Provisions, section 6.5.3, all gillnets set in Rhode Island state waters after April 1 ,2017 must have tags attached issued by RIDFW.

All Multipurpose commercial fishing license holders with the gill net endorsement are eligible to receive a set of 80 tags for fishing plus an additional 10 tags for routine loss. Only one set of tags shall be issued to each license holder. Tags shall be attached to the float line beginning at the westernmost end of each net (as measured on a compass circle from magnetic south through west to, and including, north) exceed every 300 linear feet. The net on the easternmost end of each string as measured on a compass circle from magnetic north through east must have a tag adjacent to the buoy line. In cases of gear rotation and/or catastrophic loss the license holder will be issued a new set of tags. Tags must be picked up in person at the RIDFW Marine Fisheries office at 3 Fort Wetherill Rd. Jamestown, RI  02835 or at the Coastal Resources Office at 301 Great Island Road Narragansett, RI 02882. To receive tags please fill out the attached declaration.
