Modification to possession limits and/or seasons for marine species regulated under quota

This notice is issued in accordance with the provisions of Section 20-1-12.1 of the Rhode Island General Laws entitled "Modification of possession limits and seasons for marine species managed under quotas."

This modification is as follows:


  1.  Beginning 12:00AM on Saturday, September 16, 2017, the commercial possession limit for Summer flounder will be 50 pounds per vessel per day.

*  Please also note that the sub-period opening for the commercial Black sea bass fishery, which begins on Friday, September 15th includes a fishery closure on Fridays each week.  The commercial Black sea bass fishery will therefore open 12:00AM on Saturday, September 16th.

Possession limits are subject to modification throughout the year; it is the responsibility of the licensed fisherman to comply with possession limits and all such modifications.  Current commercial possession limits can be found by calling (401) 423-1920, or visiting the Marine Fisheries webpage at http://www.dem.ri.gov/programs/fish-wildlife/marine-fisheries/mfsizes.php.
