Real Jobs RI is a demand-driven, workforce and economic development initiative that is collaborative, flexible and business-led. It is designed to ensure that Rhode Island employers have the talent they need to compete and grow while providing targeted education and skills training for Rhode Island workers. The goal of Real Jobs RI is to develop Real Jobs Partnerships that convene industry employers, key stakeholders and groups in partnerships that build alliances to address business workforce demands. Commercial fishing has a rich history and importance in the Ocean State. Over 100 million pounds of seafood arrive to our ports every year, with an export value over $1 billion. CFAP, which kicks off next summer, will support efforts to ensure the continued viability of commercial fishing in Rhode Island and grow a qualified workforce. Through the program, participants will work directly with commercial fishing boat captains and employers to learn about wild seafood harvesting and to secure full-time positions.
