[Rimarinefisheries] Emergency Closure Upper Narragansett Bay to shellfishing

Due to a sewage overflow into Buckeye Brook that discharges to the bay at the Old Mill Creek area of Conimicut in Warwick
Effective at 1 PM Monday August 27, 2018 and until further notice all waters of Upper Narragansett Bay bounded by the RIDEM range marker on Conimicut Point to the center of the tower at Nayatt Point to the northern tip of Prudence Island to the southern tip of Warwick Point are CLOSED to shellfishing.

Based on the time to reach shellfish waters, Department of Health and DEM recommend that shellfish harvested between 10:30 am today and the closure at 1:00 pm are not consumed.
The current status of this and any other emergency closures and of the CONDITIONALLY APPROVED areas of Upper Narragansett Bay, Greenwich Bay, Mount Hope Bay, or the Kickemuit River may be obtained by calling 401-222-2900 24 hours a day.
