NOTICE

Modification to possession limits and/or seasons for marine species regulated under quota


  1.  Beginning 12:00AM on Tuesday, January 1, 2019, the commercial possession limit for Black Sea Bass is five hundred (500) pounds per vessel per week.
  2.  Beginning 12:00AM on Tuesday, January 1, 2019, the commercial possession limit for Bluefish is one thousand (1,000) pounds per vessel per bi-week (two week period).
  3.  Beginning 12:00AM on Tuesday, January 1, 2019, the commercial Menhaden (in the Menhaden Mgmt. Area) fishery is CLOSED, until further notice.
  4.  Beginning 12:00AM on Tuesday, January 1, 2019, the commercial landing limit for Menhaden (in state waters outside the Menhaden Mgmt. Area) remains at 120,000 pounds per vessel per day, until further notice.
  5.  Beginning 12:00AM on Tuesday, January 1, 2019, the commercial possession limit for Scup General Category is 50,000 pounds per vessel per day.
  6.  Beginning 12:00AM on Tuesday, January 1, 2019, the commercial possession limit for Scup Floating Fish Traps is 50,000 pounds per vessel per day.
  7.  Beginning 12:00AM on Tuesday, January 1, 2019, the commercial Striped Bass Floating Fish Trap fishery is CLOSED, until further notice.
  8.  Beginning 12:00AM on Tuesday, January 1, 2019, the commercial possession limit for Aggregated Large Coastal and Hammerhead Shark species groups is twenty-five (25) sharks per vessel per day, until further notice.
  9.  Beginning 12:00AM on Tuesday, January 1, 2019, the commercial Blacknose shark fishery is CLOSED, until further notice.
  10. Beginning 12:00AM on Tuesday, January 1, 2019, the commercial Shortfin Mako fishery is CLOSED, until further notice.

Possession limits are subject to modification throughout the year; it is the responsibility of the licensed fisherman to comply with possession limits and all such modifications.   Current commercial possession limits can be found by calling (401) 423-1920, or visiting the Marine Fisheries webpage at http://www.dem.ri.gov/programs/fish-wildlife/marine-fisheries/mfsizes.php .
