Attention: Members of Rhode Island's Commercial Fishing Industry
 Coordinators of the Resilient Fisheries RI project are seeking input on a draft document called the Rhode Island Commercial Fisheries Blueprint for Resilience. The two-year Resilient Fisheries RI project relied extensively on in-kind support from DEM and involved 120 members of the RI commercial fishing industry. The final culmination of this project will be a sector strategy document that expands upon seven keys to resilience identified through the project: public relations, civic engagement, the next generation, working waters and coastlines, innovative marketing, healthy ecosystems, and adaptive science and management.
Feedback from members of the fishing industry will be gathered between February 1 - March 16, 2018. Instructions are provided at www.ResilientFisheriesRI.org<http://www.resilientfisheriesri.org/>. The review and comment process will occur in three phases: February 1 - February 16, February 19 - March 2, and March 5 - March 16. An online comment form and password-protected draft are available on the website; to obtain a password, contact ResilientFisheriesRI at gmail.com<mailto:ResilientFisheriesRI at gmail.com>. Project coordinator Sarah Schumann will also be making port visits to gather input from fishing industry members in-person; a full calendar of these visits is available on the website. An informational session will be held on February 6 from 4:00-6:00 pm at Whaler's Brewing (1174 Kingstown Rd. Wakefield, RI); all members of Rhode Island's commercial fishing industry are invited to attend.
