The public - including all members of RI's commercial and recreational fishing community -- is invited to provide input on the range of issues and information to be considered in the Bluefish Allocation Amendment. The amendment, to be developed jointly by the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission and the Mid-Atlantic Fishery Management Council over the next two years, will:

  *   Review the allocations to the commercial and recreational fisheries (currently 17%/83%);
  *   Review the state-by-state commercial shares (RI=6.81%);
  * Review the goals and objectives of the transfer process between the recreational and commercial fisheries, as well as between the states' commercial fisheries.

Scoping is the first and best opportunity for members of the public to raise concerns related to the scope of issues that will be considered. The public is encouraged to submit comments regarding the range of potential issues to be addressed in the amendment.

The public hearing schedule concluded with the RI hearing held last night (7/13). However, there will be an internet webinar offered on Monday, July 16, 2018 at 6 pm.
