[Rimarinefisheries] Rhode Island Seafood Marketing Collaborative - 4th annual “Quahog Week” – March 25-31.

DEM, in association with the Rhode Island Seafood Marketing Collaborative, is thrilled to announce the 4th annual “Quahog Week”, which runs this year from March 25-31.
The purpose of Quahog Week is to support RI’s quahog fishery and associated seafood industry via a weeklong celebration featuring RI-quahog-based specials at participating restaurants and markets throughout the State, along with two special events in South Kingstown and Warren.  The celebration is aimed at heightening consumer awareness and demand for RI seafood in general, and RI quahogs in particular.
If you are a commercial shellfish harvester or a shellfish dealer, be advised that demand for RI quahogs is expected to spike prior to and during the week of March 25-31.  Please plan accordingly.
For all others, please consider supporting your fellow commercial fishermen and women, and the associated RI seafood industry, by:

  *   Enjoying a dinner at one of the many participating restaurants, all of whom will be offering quahog-based specials during the week.
  *   Buying direct from one of the many retailers offering quahog specials during the week.
  *   Stopping by to say hello – and enjoy complimentary little necks provided by the RI Shellfishermen’s Association, as well as chowder and stuffies provided by other partners – at either or both of the two special events during the week:



     *   Whalers Brewing Company in Peace Dale on Wednesday, March 27, from 5-8 pm
     *   Hope & Main in Warren on Friday, March 29, from 5-8 pm.
