[Rimarinefisheries] RIMFC Advisory Panel membership solicitation

[RI Marine Fisheries]

Please be advised that the Division of Marine Fisheries is seeking qualified applicants to serve on the RI Marine Fisheries Council's Shellfish Advisory Panel (SAP)<http://www.dem.ri.gov/programs/bnatres/marine/pdf/SAPMember.pdf> and Industry Advisory Committee (IAC)<http://www.dem.ri.gov/programs/bnatres/fishwild/pdf/IACMember.pdf>.

The IAC currently has 8 members, with an additional 7 openings available.  The IAC provides coordination among commercial fisheries sectors and provides review of plans and recommendations that affect more than the commercial fishery sector. The IAC also advises the Council and the Department on matters that affect commercial fishing as a whole, and shall include representatives of each commercial fisheries sector and of manners of commercial fishing.

The SAP currently consists of 9 members, with an additional 6 openings available. Membership on the SAP shall include representation from a broad array of commercial and recreational shellfish interests in RI, including the various species harvested, gear types utilized, and areas fished.  Membership may also include other relevant interests or user groups, as the Council sees fit.

While fishing sectors are identified on the membership lists, this in no way precludes other interested parties not specifically identified from applying.  Duplication of sector representation is also in no way precluded.

Interested persons should complete the advisory panel application<http://www.dem.ri.gov/programs/bnatres/fishwild/pdf/APApp.pdf> (follow the link or use the attached) and return to the Division (address and email provided at bottom of application form).  All applications received will be reviewed at a subsequent Council meeting for their consideration.
