CARES Act Fisheries Assistance Funding Update

The application period for CARES Act Fisheries Assistance Funding closed on Monday, September 28, 2020 and the appeals process is currently ongoing. A total of $3,167,923 in federal funding assistance was available for eligible participants in the Rhode Island commercial and for-hire fisheries, including commercial harvesters, commercial aquaculturists, seafood processors/dealers, and for-hire vessel/business owners. Once the appeals process is complete, the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission will distribute checks by mail to approved applicants.

All information pertaining to the program, including the application process, is detailed in the Emergency Regulations Governing the Administration of Federal Fisheries Relief Funding Provided to the State of Rhode Island Under the CARES Act, 250-RICR-90-00-16, filed with the Rhode Island Secretary of State by DEM Director Janet Coit on September 9, 2020.
