NOTICE

Providence River shellfish management area harvest schedule alternate dates are now open to harvest

Due to water quality closures in the Providence River shellfish management area during the open season, the predetermined alternate dates will now be open to harvest, notwithstanding closures due to water quality impairment. The following dates will be open to harvest from 8:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M.

·         August: 6, 9, 11, 13, 16, 18, 20, 23, 25, 27, 30 and September 1 and 3.

Check the Division of Marine Fisheries Shellfish Regulations or Visit https://rules.sos.ri.gov/regulations/part/250-90-00-4 for other shellfish management closures, minimum sizes and possession limits.

For information regarding where you can harvest shellfish, please refer to the interactive Shellfish Map, which can be found by clicking on "Shellfish Map" on the "Shellfish Links" menu located on the right side of the Shellfish Home page (dem.ri.gov/shellfish<http://dem.ri.gov/shellfish>)

Current Status of CONDITIONALLY APPROVED areas of Upper Narragansett Bay, Greenwich Bay, Mount Hope Bay, or the Kickemuit River or other emergency closures may be obtained by calling the Shellfish Closure Hotline 401-222-2900 24 hours a day. If you have questions or concerns about shellfish closures, you may call (401)222-4700 or email them to dem.shellfish at dem.ri.gov<mailto:dem.shellfish at dem.ri.gov>.
