REMINDER
Apponaug Cove Quahog Transplant Into Greenwich Bay Shellfish Management Area
Thursday May 19th


  *   The transplant will occur between 8 A.M. and 12 P.M. bags will be handed out at Safe Harbor Cowesett marina in Apponaug Cove at Dock A. The bag limit will be determined by the number of participants on the day of the transplant. Any participants with new bags available to use during the transplant are encouraged to bring them for use during the transplant.



  *   Participants will be paid $15 per 50-pound bag and will be responsible for dumping the clams into the respective management area adjacent to Apponaug Cove.





  *   The Narragansett Bay Commission will be paying the transplant participants and asks that anyone who has not participated in a transplant within the past three years to please complete a W-9 form in advance to submit to their staff.   *   Licensed shellfishermen wishing to participate in the transplant should report to the on-scene DEM enforcement patrol boat by 8 A.M. on the day of the transplant. The officers will collect licenses to facilitate accounting.



  *   The transplanted shellfish will be dumped into the Greenwich Bay Shellfish Management Area and will be unavailable for harvest until December 2022.



Below is a map of the transplant area outlined in red. Clams will be transplanted from Apponaug Cove south of a line at the narrows north of Dickerson's Marine, Inc at 41.69N 71.45W (41° 41.22'N -71° 26.45'W) to 41.69N 71.45W (41° 41.59'N -71° 26.73'W)and north of a line located to the south of Mary's Creek at 41.69N 71.45W (41° 41.20'N -71° 27.01'W) to 41.69N 71.44W (41° 41.22'N -71° 26.45'W)

All harvested clams will be transplanted into the western section of 8A in waters greater than 5 feet (red and orange lines on the map) beginning at a line south of the shellfish closure line extending from the end of Harbor Land road in East Greenwich 41.68N 71.45W (41° 40.59'N -71° 26.76'W) to the end of Budlong Farm Road, Warwick 41.69N 71.43W (41° 41.17'N -71° 25.58'W) and north of a line extending from Chepiwanoxet point 41.67N 71.44W (41° 40.43'N -71°26.47'W) to the navigation buoy north of Sally Rock 41.67N 71.42W (41° 40.49'N -71° 25.48'W) to a fixed pier on Promenade Street off of Buttonwoods 41.68N 71.42W (41° 41.09'N -71° 25.13'W).
