Attention Commercial Marine License Holders!



Please note fishers holding the following commercial fishing licenses: Resident and Non-Resident Standard Fishing License, Multipurpose Fishing License, and Resident Over 65 Shellfish License, have until the deadline date of April 29, 2023 to renew existing licenses, which includes that statutorily required late fee of $200.00. If you miss the deadline you will lose your commercial fishing license.  The deadline date is fast approaching, this notice is urgent and requires your immediate attention.



The Department strongly recommends license holders to renew online visiting Rhode Island Outdoors (RIO) at www.rio.ri.gov<http://www.rio.ri.gov>. A dedicated hotline 844-479-6452 has been created to assist marine fishers experiencing issues with setting up an account or renewing licenses. Trained agents are available M-F, 9 am - 6 pm and are dedicated exclusively for the marine license renewal. Additionally, fishers may renew in person at the DEM, Office of Boat Registration and Licensing located at 235 Promenade St, Room 360 Providence. Office hour are M-F, 8:30 am until 3:30 pm. All logbook and online reporting must be current prior to renewal. Questions regarding reporting are directed to RI DEM, Division of Fish and Wildlife, Marine Fisheries at 401-423-1920.
