RI DEM Shellfish Closure Update



As of today (8/28/2021) the RI DEM Shellfish Closure Hotline (401-222-2900) is not operating correctly.  RIDEM staff are currently unable to update the recording. The RI Division of Information Technology is aware of the problem and is working on a solution. Please continue to monitor emails from this listserve regarding future updates and changes to conditional area closures.


Current closures are as follows:

Conditional Areas in Greenwich Bay and Lower Providence River Area E will be extended in their closure and are scheduled to reopen at NOON on September 4, 2021.


Conditional Areas in Mt. Hope Bay and the Kickemuit River will remain closed to shellfishing and are scheduled to reopen at Noon on August 31, 2021.



Conditional Areas in Point Judith Pond will remain closed to shellfishing and are scheduled to reopen at Sunrise on August 30, 2021.
