Hello Everyone,

The 6th annual National Tax Security Awareness Week comes to a close today. The Rhode Island Division of Taxation, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), and the tax industry - working together as the Security Summit - provided a week of information to help taxpayers and tax preparers protect against identity theft.

Thursday Dec. 2, focused on helping tax professionals that may face additional security risks from cybercriminals seeking to use the pandemic-related industry changes and scams to steal sensitive client information.

On today, Friday Dec. 3, businesses are urged to be alert to cyberattacks aimed at gaining access to business data and customer information. The Summit partners have also provided steps to help businesses with tax-related issues concerning to identity theft.
