Hello RI Arborists,

Your 2025 Rhode Island Arborist License will expire on December 31st of this year and will need to be renewed. This year, we will not be mailing out paper renewal applications for RI arborist license renewals. We encourage all RI arborists to use our online portal<http://dem.ri.gov/dafe-portal > for all new and renewal applications. If you have already created an online account in the portal to manage your arborist license, you should have received an automatic email from the portal alerting you that you can renew your license. Please follow the instructions in that email to renew your license.

If you need to set up your account to manage your arborist license please visit our website<https://dem.ri.gov/natural-resources-bureau/agriculture-and-forest-environment/forest-environment/urban/arborist-licensing > for helpful information, including a how-to guide<https://dem.ri.gov/sites/g/files/xkgbur861/files/2025-10/OnlinePortalArboristUserGuide.pdf > with instructions on how to access the portal, create an account, and renew your license. Please refer to this guide when creating your account as there is important information specific to arborist licenses.
When renewing your license, please be sure you are clicking the renew button on the 'My Licenses' tab. Do not submit a new RI Arborist License application if you already have an arborist license. If you do not see your arborist license on your account, contact me for assistance.
