Hello All!

Take Your Child to the Library Day is fast approaching on Saturday,
February 1st (although you can plan anything around that time, it doesn't
need to be that exact day).

The Connecticut Library Consortium put together some publicity tips, and
there are many other resources on the website. If you don't have anything
planned yet, there is still time! Please remember to register your event
so it can be counted in the annual TYCLD statistics. :-)

Take Your Child to the Library Day Publicity Tips: Simple Things You Can Do
to Make Your TYCLD Event Sing

   -

Plan something fun your community will enjoy. It doesn’t have to be
complicated or expensive. If you have a budget, you can hire a performer –
Simple ideas include having a special storytime, a family dance party,
craft projects, or a book giveaway (your Friends group may be able to help
finding used books in excellent condition).
   -

Let your community know you’ll be participating in Take Your Child to
the Library Day! Publicize your event – whether you create a flyer, make
a Facebook event listing, put it on your website, or any other means, make
sure you include Take Your Child to the Library Day! This way your
community will know you have a fun event planned, but that you’re also
participating in this International initiative to bring families into the
   library.
   -

Work with other organizations in your community. Every community has
organizations that work with families. Enlist their help to spread the
word! There are promotional materials available on the TYCLD website that
you can download, customize with your event information, and print to share
with your partners, as well as a brochure that helps explain the importance
of TYCLD. Who can be a partner? Local daycares, gymnastics centers, ice
cream shops, pediatricians…anyone who cares about the well-being of
   children and families!
   -

Use the turnkey marketing materials available on the TYCLD website to
make publicizing your event easy! Our toolkit has so many helpful tools:
official logo and graphics, printable brochure, and customizable bookmarks,
both in English and Spanish. Use the existing materials to make your job
easy. Plus, consistent use of the materials helps families recognize the
images and identifies your event as part of this large initiative!
   -

Spread the word to your local media. We provide statewide media
relations work, contacting all the news outlets across Connecticut. But you
may have working relationships with your local media people – tell them
about your plans for TYCLD! You can use the customizable press releases
found on the TYCLD website to with your library’s information. Or you can
call up your friendly local reporter to give them the lead on a fun event
   they may want to cover.
   -

Take and share photos! Part of the fun is seeing all the pictures of
families having fun! You’ll want photos for your files and use, and others
will want to see your creativity. Share them on social media with
