Presenters

[Maura Johnson]

Maura Johnson is the associate manager of community training at StoryCorps. In her role, she helps organizations to create storytelling and recording projects in their communities. She leads trainings with program partners across the U.S., including healthcare providers, libraries, and other community organizations. Maura has a background in film and media and is currently a graduate student in Library and Information Studies at Queens College in New York.

[Emily Janssen]

Emily Janssen is the associate director for community training at StoryCorps. Over the past fifteen years, StoryCorps has continuously developed tools to support communities as they record and preserve their stories in their own words, with a commitment to hearing from those traditionally underrepresented in the media and history books. With StoryCorps, Emily has trained libraries, hospitals, palliative care centers, and other community health organizations to embed storytelling into their programs.

[Brittney Thomas]

Brittney Thomas is the manager of the National Network of Libraries of Medicine (NNLM) All of Us Community Engagement Center based out of the Greater Midwest Regional Medical Library at the University of Iowa where she coordinates community engagement activities for the All of Us Research Program across the NNLM. She received her BA in Art History & Theory from Iowa State University in 2008 and her MLIS from the University of Iowa in 2011. Her background and research interests are in community engagement and outreach, consumer health and public libraries, student success, learning spaces and digital and media literacy.
