As New England communities prepare for storms and natural  disasters, Hazard Mitigation Plans are critical to reduce local environmental and public health impacts when severe events occur.  Many states and local governments are currently updating plans to identify risks and vulnerabilities associated with natural disasters, and this presents an opportunity to incorporate green infrastructure.  This webinar will provide an overview of the Federal Hazard Mitigation requirements; explain opportunities, benefits and incentives for incorporating green infrastructure into hazard mitigation plans; and showcase nature-based solutions. Communities that can align local Hazard Mitigation Plans and resources to fund efforts like green infrastructure can reduce the impacts of flooding, protect and improve water quality, and reduce the impacts of stormwater while increasing resiliency to severe storm events.
