This webinar will showcase the planning, design, and implementation of green infrastructure practices at the Ferrous Site in Lawrence, Massachusetts. Integrating sustainable green infrastructure practices as part of Brownfields cleanup and site remediation practices can be a challenging endeavor.

The Ferrous Site Project is the result of an innovative partnership between the City of Lawrence, Groundwork Lawrence, and Lawrence CommunityWorks to create a park and affordable housing on a former brownfield. The partners have leveraged EPA Brownfields funding to bring a defunct industrial site back to life. In 2014, Groundwork Lawrence acquired three acres of the site and created a park that prioritizes restoring ecological function and creating green infrastructure to support future redevelopment projects. Lawrence CommunityWorks recently acquired the remaining 4 acres to create additional parkland and 80 units of affordable housing.

Planning and implementation strategies for site reuse and remediation, green infrastructure, and climate adaptation will be presented as well as the City's efforts towards advancing inclusive public engagement and collaborative processes, given its multiple, diverse partners who are frequently involved in these projects.
