[Watersheds] FW: Land & Water Conservation Fund Support Letter

Hi Everyone,

 

I'm connecting you with Lesley Kane, who is the Director of Outdoors America
and is organizing a letter of support to Congress urging approval of the
Great American Outdoors Act. This bill would accomplish two purposes that
are relevant to most of us. It would permanently dedicate $900 million per
year to the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF).  The LWCF is an
essential source of funding for a wide variety of conservation projects in
Rhode Island and across the country.  It would also invest $1.9 billion
annually for the next five years to complete deferred maintenance projects
on lands managed by the National Park Service, U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service,
and other federal public lands agencies. 

 

There are already hundreds of signatories from across the country, but Rhode
Island is underrepresented so we wanted to be sure that organizations like
ours were aware of the letter and given the opportunity to sign on. I'm sure
that Lesley would be happy to answer any questions that you have.
