FYI – Public comment is open until May 15, 2025 on the document. Meeting is May 2 (sorry for short notice!)
Although our neighbor to the north, management of upstream lakes in the Blackstone and Ten Mile watersheds (and others) may have impacts downstream in RI. Please share with possible interested groups.

A 2025 draft of The Massachusetts Guide to Lake Management (MassGLM) has been released for the public and regulatory agency review and comment.  You/your group is receiving this email invite to participate in that review process before the document is submitted to MEPA for final approval.   This version of the MassGLM is intended to provide an update to the 2004 Generic Environmental Impact Report on Eutrophication and Aquatic Plant Management in Massachusetts and the accompanying Practical Guide to Lake Management in Massachusetts.  The original Generic Environmental Impact Report for Eutrophication and Aquatic Plant Management in Massachusetts (GEIR) was developed in the late 1990s and early 2000s.  Over the last two decades, much experience has been gained with the management of lakes and ponds.  Additionally, changes in regulations have created additional needs not addressed in 2004 and this document incorporates this information.  This 2025 guide incorporates updates to both the GEIR and Practical Guide into one hybrid document titled "The Massachusetts Guide to Lake Management (MassGLM)".   By following the link below, you will be able to review the draft document and make comments on specific sections or the overall document itself.

There will be webinar meetings (dates below) that are intended to briefly outline the new document and the process of submitting comments to DCR on the draft document.  We would like to invite you/your group to sign up for one of these informational meetings in the coming weeks.  It is our hope that we can address all of the questions and comments about the new document and its review process at these webinars.
