[Webmakers] html/php question

My name is Paul Kluk, Linux/UNIX admin for state of RI.
If you have time, I would like your thoughts/comments on an issue - I have a php/html question and would like your input/suggestions.

Situation - LAMP Server (Linux Apache MySQL PHP) hosting an internal website which connects to a SQL Database on a windows server
The LAMP Server is attached to the Windows Domain via Kerberos and users can log into the LAMP Server using their Windows AD credentials.
That said, we would like the users to "login" via the website so their Windows Credentials are validated before they gain access to the SQL database.
Any suggestions as to how to implement this - point me to a website etc???
