Attention Stormwater Management Plan Preparers: It has recently come to
the DEM's attention that some plan preparers may be using outdated
versions of the RI Model Soil Erosion and Sediment Control Plan. This
may be due to a number of factors. Prior to putting together your permit
application please make sure that you are utilizing the latest version.
The most recent revision date was May 1, 2015. To assist you in
identifying the latest version, the revision date is contained within
the template and is also listed on the DEM webpage where the RI Model
Soil Erosion and Sediment Control Plan is located.

Thank you.

THE RHODE ISLAND MODEL SOIL EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROL PLAN TEMPLATE
HAS BEEN REVISED

Attention Stormwater Management Plan Preparers: The DEM has posted a
revised RI Model Soil Erosion and Sediment Control Plan Template on the
DEM Coordinated Stormwater Permitting webpage:
http://www.dem.ri.gov/programs/benviron/water/permits/swcoord/index.htm
<http://www.dem.ri.gov/programs/benviron/water/permits/swcoord/index.htm
>

The revised template will assist applicants to comply with the amended
version of Section 3.2.10 - Minimum Standard 10: Construction Activity
Soil Erosion, Runoff, Sedimentation, and Pollution Prevention Control
Measure Requirements and the newly added Section 3.3.7 - Soil Erosion,
Runoff, and Sedimentation Control Measures contained in the RI
Stormwater Design and Installation Standards Manual. Please refer to the
RI Stormwater Design and Installation Standards Manual page for more
information:
http://www.dem.ri.gov/programs/benviron/water/permits/ripdes/stwater/t4g
uide/desman.htm

Please note that all new permit applications submitted on or after June
3, 2015 are subject to these new standards. Minimum Standard 10 of the
RISDISM was revised to be consistent with the Performance Criteria for
Soil Erosion and Sedimentation Control already in effect in the 2013
RIPDES Construction General Permit and the 2014 RI Soil Erosion and
Sediment Control Handbook. These amendments establish through regulation
clear, consistent, and effective soil erosion and sediment control
design standards.

Please be sure to review the template instructions as the DEM has made
changes to the way we would like reviewers to develop their site
specific Soil Erosion and Sediment Control Plan. In addition, the DEM
has added a suggestion form to solicit feedback from plan preparers.
Please send us your suggestions for improvements to the Model at any
time. All comments will be considered when periodic revisions are made.
