[Owtsinfo] DEM Issues Public Notice for Proposed OWTS Rule Changes

DEM has issued public notice for proposed revisions to the Onsite Wastewater Treatment System (OWTS) Rules.  The purpose of these revisions is to modify certain OWTS upgrade requirements in the Salt Pond and Narrow River Critical Resource Areas, to streamline Alternative and Experimental Technology approval process, to make rules pertaining to cesspool phase-out consistent with revisions to R.I.G.L. § 23-19.15, and other minor technical clarifications.

The public hearing for the proposed Rule changes will be held Thursday, May 3, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. in Room 300 of DEM's offices at 235 Promenade Street in Providence.  Comments on the proposed Rule changes will be accepted through 4:00 p.m. on Friday, May 4, 2012.  You can submit written comments by email to jonathan.zwarg at dem.ri.gov, in person at DEM's offices, or via USPS to RIDEM, Onsite Wastewater Program, 235 Promenade St., Providence, RI 02908.
