[Owtsinfo] RIDEM Onsite Wastewater Treatment Systems Certificates of Conformance - Process Changes Effective April 10, 2020

[Onsite Wastewater Treatment System]

Effective Friday April 10, 2020 the RIDEM Onsite Wastewater Treatment Systems (OWTS) Program will no longer mail hard copies of Certificates of Conformance to system owners and municipal building officials.


  1.  Downloading a Certificate of Conformance - Starting today when a Certificate of Conformance is issued by the RIDEM OWTS Program it will be available for download on the DEM website (www.dem.ri.gov/septic<http://www.dem.ri.gov/septic>) at the start of the next business day. To download an electronic copy of a Certificate of Conformance you may do so by performing an online permit search using the instructions provided on our website. Please note that the online Certificate of Conformance capability has been available on the website for several years already therefore the only significant change is that the RIDEM OWTS Program will no longer be mailing hard copies in an effort to reduce waste and streamline our permitting process.


  1.  Accessing a List of Recent Conformances - To assist municipal officials we will also be posting a list of recently conformed OWTS applications on a weekly basis. The list is interactive and can be sorted directly from the website. To obtain access to this information there are two options:

Option 1:             Go to www.dem.ri.gov/septic<http://www.dem.ri.gov/septic> (don’t forget to hit the refresh button). On the right hand side under “Permitting Information”, expand “Permit Search” and click on “Certificates of Conformance”.


Option 2:             Go directly to http://www.dem.ri.gov/programs/water/owts/certificate-conform.php
