Please see below for some information regarding the upcoming Tobacco Free Summit on Thursday November 15th  at the RI Nursing Education Center and feel free to share with your colleagues on campus who work in health or student services. Also I have attached a flyer for an upcoming community event that is part of a series of "community mental health talks" hosted by the RI Executive Office of Health and Human Services that you or your colleagues may be interested in attending.

The Rhode Island Department of Health "Live Smoke Free, Be Tobacco Free" program invites you to a Tobacco Free Summit: Advancing Strategies to Reduce Secondhand Smoke Exposure Where People Live, Learn & Develop. Thursday, November 15, 2018. Please share with your colleagues and students.

Learn best practice strategies to protect the public from secondhand smoke exposure by creating tobacco-free environments at universities, on college campuses, parks and recreational areas, and in multi-unit housing. Campus administrators, faculty, students, Public Housing Authorities, affordable housing management groups, property managers, resident service coordinators, parks and recreation administrators, public health advocates and municipal leaders are strongly encouraged to attend. This is a free event. Refreshments and lunch provided.

Featured Key Note Speaker: Liz Williams, American Nonsmokers' Rights Foundation
Liz Williams is a Project Manager with the American Nonsmokers' Rights Foundation (ANR Foundation) where she provides technical assistance support, trainings, and resource development to public health professionals, advocates, and the public on issues related to secondhand smoke and smoke-free policy change efforts, including multi-unit housing, college campuses, outdoor spaces, e-cigarettes, marijuana smoke, and preemption. Ms. Williams has worked for ANR Foundation since 2002 and is a Providence College graduate.

Other Guest Speakers: American Cancer Society Network, Rhode Island Tobacco Control Program, Louise Marcus Esquire of Marcus Law, Amanda Ayers from Health Resources in Action (HRiA), Christopher Banthin, JD, Public Health Law Institute, representatives and Scholar students from the University of Rhode Island and Rhode Island College.
