[Rimarinefisheries] Bay State Wind Geophysical Survey Notice

Notice to Fishermen: Bay State Wind geophysical survey to start August 15, 2016.

The duration of the survey is estimated to be 35 days long, weather permitting. For the next three years, DONG Energy will collect data and perform an assessment of the physical, biological and economic characteristic of BOEM lease area OCS-A0500 south of Martha's Vineyard (see attached PDF for chart) to evaluate suitability for the construction of an offshore wind farm. As the first step of the data collection, DONG will conduct a geophysical survey in August and September 2016. A local Fishing Industry Representative (FIR), Steve Welch, will act as the onboard fisheries point of contact, advising the vessel master to avoid gear conflicts.
