Subject: Cable crossing matting location map

Supplemental protection (articulated concrete mats) has been placed over the two active in-service telecommunication cables. This protective matting is required to maintain the integrity of the existing telecommunication cables, and was an approved/permitted activity as part of the sea2shore: The Renewable Link (formerly referred to as the Block Island Transmission System, "BITS") project. The attached map provides coordinates of the supplemental protection where the sea2shore submarine cable is being installed over the existing cables. The articulated concrete mat specification is also provided for reference. Once the sea2shore cable is installed over the existing telecommunication cables, additional matting will be placed to protect both cables.  These reference points will be provided by National Grid once the activity is complete.
