Subject: Pre-lay Grapnel Run of sea2shore cable

National Grid and its contractors will begin the pre-lay grapnel run (PLGR) this Saturday, May 21, 2016. This is anticipated to take 5 to 7 days, weather and sea conditions dependent.

The submarine cable lay from Scarborough State Beach to Block Island’s Crescent Beach is scheduled to begin later next week (4th week of May). We anticipate this operation to take approximately 3 weeks, weather and sea conditions dependent. A separate notification about the cable lay start will be provided in advance of that activity. Attached is a fisheries question and answer document concerning the PLGR and upcoming cable lay operation. This Q&A was formulated based on feedback and questions received during  the April fisheries information session. Also attached is the submarine cable route lat/long map.
