Notice to Fishermen: Bay State Wind Geotechnical Survey in October

DONG Energy has leased a portion of the BOEM Massachusetts Wind Energy Area south of Martha's Vineyard. They will be collecting condition information in the area over the next few years and have already completed a geophysical survey (conducted during August and September).  A follow-up survey is now planned to begin October 7th. This survey will involve seabed testing at 18 fixed locations; the survey vessel will remain stationary at each location for approximately 2 to 24 hours at a time using dynamic positioning systems. Mariners are requested to give wide berth of a half-mile, but should not otherwise be inconvenienced.

DONG Energy has engaged a Fishery Liaison Officer to work with fishing community leaders. Additionally, an experienced local fisherman will be on the survey vessel for the duration of the survey to ensure daily contact with vessels fishing in the area and to advise the survey captain.  Contact information for the research vessel bridge, survey location charts and survey details are contained in the attached notices.
